JAMMU, Nov 1: Gangyal police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a notorious narcotic smuggler and recovered 5 kilograms of ganja from his possession.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Gangyal police station raised a naka and asked a pedestrian carrying black leather bag to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the person escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the man near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 5 kilograms of ganja from the leather bag and arrested the man, who has been identified as Adatiya Pardhan, son of Siaimanchal Pardhan of Orissa
The accused during preliminary questioning disclosed that for the past three years, he was bringing the consignment from Orissa for selling it among the youth here in Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 123/16 stands registered against the accused at police station Gangyal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal Inspector Aejaz Wani made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Sachin Gupta and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
