Notorious land grabber arrested under PSA

JAMMU, Jan 18: In a significant move against land encroachment, the Jammu district administration has invoked the Public Safety Act (PSA) against Abdul Majeed, alias Bittu Teli, a notorious land grabber from Sunjwan, tehsil Bahu.
Majeed, son of Mir Ali and a resident of Sunjwan, has been accused of involvement in multiple land and forest encroachment activities, including altering land specifications illegally.
The dossier against the accused was meticulously prepared by the Forest Department and subsequently approved by the District Administration. The Jammu Police executed the detention order as part of the ongoing drive against land encroachers.
A team from Channi Police Station, led by Station House Officer Inspector Shariq Bhat and PSI Prince Jasrotia, apprehended Majeed under the PSA following the detention order issued by the District Magistrate of Jammu.
According to police sources, the accused is a habitual offender and has been implicated in several cases of land grabbing. After his arrest, Majeed was detained in Amphalla Jail.
This action marks another step in the administration’s efforts to curb illegal encroachments and protect public and forest land in the region.
