Srinagar, Apr 10: In a major breakthrough, the police in north Kashmir’s Sopore area of Baramulla district arrested a notorious drug peddler.
A police official said on a specific information about the movement of the drug peddler namely Tariq alias Brilliant alias King travelling in his Alto car bearing registration number JK05D-3042 from Baramulla towards Sopore, a special checkpoint was laid at Krankshivan Colony.
“When asked to stop by the police party, King tried to fled but after a hot chase and swift action the drug Peddler was arrested,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shabir Khan, who was heading the police party.
He said a huge consignment of Psychotropics substances were recovered from his possession which include more than 1500 bottles of Corex and 2500 packets of Sypasmoproxivan capsules.
“Tariq Brilliant had many FIRs in different police stations of Bandipora, Sopore and Kupwara. A case under FIR number 43/2016 under Section 8/22 NDPS was lodged at Police Station Tarzoo in Sopore,” he said.
Superintendent of Police, Sopore, Harmeet Singh said Tariq was a wanted drug peddler from a long time and is also running some medicine shops in the town.”We are also going to recommend the cancellation of license of his shops with the drug controller,” he said.
Police said they are mulling to recommend Public Safety Act to Divisional Kashmir and with the arrest of Tariq king some more arrests are possible in near future.
