Notorious drug peddler detained under PIT-NDPS Act

RAJOURI, July 19: Rajouri Police have booked a notorious drug peddler under the stringent provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act.
The accused, identified as Sahil Sharma alias Sahu, son of Som Nath and a resident of Dandesar, Tehsil Nowshera, District Rajouri, has a history of involvement in drug peddling and was considered a habitual offender. His repeated engagement in narcotics-related activities raised serious concerns, prompting the competent authority to issue formal detention orders against him under the PIT-NDPS Act. Acting on these orders, the accused was detained and has now been lodged in Jammu Jail.
According to Police, Sahil Sharma was previously involved in two FIRs pertaining to drug trafficking. The first, FIR No. 69 of 2022, was registered under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Dharamsal, in which five grams of heroin was recovered from his possession. The second, FIR No. 38 of 2025, was registered under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Nowshera, involving the recovery of eight grams of heroin.
