JAMMU, July 9: A notorious drug peddler was booked under the PIT NDPS Act in Bishnah area and subsequently lodged in District Jail Udhampur.
Shoket Ali of Sakinderpur Kothey, Bishnah was booked under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, a police official said.
According to him, multiple FIRs under the NDPS Act were registered against the accused for his involvement in making the gullible youth victims of the drug abuse.
Despite his arrests in NDPS cases, the accused didn’t mend his activities and continued to supply drugs to the local youth to achieve the monetary gains by illegal and wrongful methods, he said.
“Since the accused was continuously succeeding in securing the bails from the courts, a dossier under the stringent PIT NDPS was recommended against him to prevent him from further indulging in the drug trade,” the police official said.
After getting satisfied with the dossier, the Divisional Commissioner Jammu issued a PIT NDPS warrant against the criminal, added the police official.
He said the warrant was executed today with the arrest of the criminal by a team of Police Station Bishnah led by SHO of the area under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu.
Subsequently, the criminal was lodged in District Jail Udhampur, the police official said.
