Notorious drug peddler booked under PIT-NDPS Act

JAMMU, Dec 3: Police in Jammu’s RS Pura area today claimed they have booked an alleged drug peddler under the PIT-NDPS Act and subsequently lodged him in District Jail Udhampur.
Dheeraj Choudhary of Kothey Chohala, Tehsil RS Pura, District Jammu, who was a habitual drug peddler of the area, has been booked under the PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, a police official said.
He said multiple cases under the NDPS Act were registered against Choudhary for promoting drug peddling/trade by supplying drugs to the local youth of RS Pura.
“Despite being booked multiple times, the accused didn’t mend his activities and continued promoting drug trade in the area,” he said.
“He even remained successful every time in securing the bails from the court, thereby emerging as a threat to the peace of the area,” added the police official.
As such, he said, a dossier under the PIT NDPS Act was recommended against him, which upon perusal, got an approval from the Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
Accordingly, the arrest warrant issued by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu under the PIT-NDPS Act was executed today with the arrest of the accused by a team of Police Station RS Pura headed by SHO concerned, Inspector RS Parihar, under the overall supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu, IH Rather.
