Notorious drug peddler booked under PIT-NDPS Act

JAMMU, June 28: Jammu Police have booked a notorious drug peddler from Dogra Hall under the stringent PIT-NDPS Act and lodged him in District Jail Rajouri.
A police official said the accused, Vinod Kumar alias Kuda of House Number 55, Dogra Hall, was wanted in multiple narcotics cases and was also evading arrest in a POCSO case registered by Pathankot Police.
After obtaining formal detention orders from the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, a police team from Police Station Janipur along with Police Post High Court today arrested the habitual offender, he said.
Despite several previous arrests in NDPS cases, the accused continued supplying drugs to local youth, promoting the drug trade for monetary gain, the police official said.
Due to repeated bail reliefs and continuous involvement in drug-related crimes, he said, a dossier was prepared and submitted for his preventive detention.
Accordingly, he said, the Divisional Commissioner approved the warrant under PIT-NDPS Act, leading to his formal detention.
Pertinently, the arrest was made by a team of Police Station Janipur, led by SHO concerned, Inspector Vikram Sharma, and Incharge Police Post High Court, SI Manzoor Wani, under the close supervision of SDPO Bakshi Nagar, Dr Satish Bhardwaj, SP City North Jammu, Vivek Shekhar, and the overall supervision of SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh.
