Notorious drug peddler booked under PIT NDPS Act

SAMBA, June 10: A notorious drug peddler allegedly involved in illicit narcotics trade was booked and detained under the PIT NDPS Act here today and subsequently lodged in the Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal in Jammu district.
Sham Din alias Shama of Gujjar Basti, Sarore Adda, tehsil Bari Brahamana, district Samba, was detained and booked under the PIT NDPS Act for his repeated indulgence in illicit drug trafficking in the area, a police official said.
He said the action was taken after Divisional Commissioner Jammu gave approval to his detention under the stringent law after assessment of a dossier and other connected documents submitted to him by Jammu and Kashmir Police.
According to the police official, the arrested drug peddler has been facing several FIRs registered at Police Station Bari Brahamana for his role in promoting the drug trade by supplying narcotics to people, especially youth of the area.
After his detention, he has been lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal in Jammu district, added the police official.
