JAMMU, Sept 18: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Bishnah area have yet again booked a habitual and wanted drug smuggler under the PIT NDPS Act and lodged him in District Jail after formal detention orders were issued by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
Officials said Chirag Attri of Chak Jaralan, Bishnah, has been involved in several cases registered under the NDPS Act for promoting drug trafficking and supplying narcotics to local youth.
Despite being earlier detained under PIT NDPS Act in 2024, the accused resumed drug trade soon after his release and was recently arrested in yet another case, highlighting his continued involvement in drug peddling activities, they said.
Officials further informed that Attri had been successful in securing bail on multiple occasions but did not mend his ways and continued to engage in the illegal trade.
“Considering his repeated indulgence in such activities and its harmful impact on society, a fresh dossier was prepared and forwarded, following which the Divisional Commissioner issued detention orders under the PIT NDPS Act,” they said.
Pertinently, the arrest and detention were carried out by a team of Police Station Bishnah under the supervision of SHO Bishnah, Inspector Rakesh Singh Jamwal.
