Notorious drug-peddler booked

RAJOURI, Mar 8: In a strong action against drug- trafficking, Thannamandi Police have detained a notorious drug peddler under the provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act.
A police team from Police Station Thannamandi, led by SHO Thannamandi, Inspector Sachinder Pal Singh, carried out the action under the close supervision of SDPO Thannamandi, Paropkar Singh.
The accused has been identified as Javed Iqbal Tass, son of Mohd Ashraf, resident of Bhanghai, Thannamandi, District Rajouri. He has been involved in multiple cases related to drug peddling in the area.
Taking cognizance of his continuous involvement in illegal narcotics trade and his activities posing a serious threat to society, the competent authority issued detention orders against him under the PITNDPS Act.
Following the issuance of these orders, the accused has been detained and lodged in the District Jail.
Police stated that the action is part of its ongoing drive against drug smuggling and narcotics trafficking in the district. The police reiterated their commitment to curb the menace of drugs and safeguard the youth of Rajouri from the harmful effects of drug abuse.
