Notorious drug- peddler booked

UDHAMPUR, July 25: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the District, the police in Udhampur have booked one notorious drug-peddler under PIT NDPC Act and sent behind the bars.
He has been identified as Mudassir alias Jugnu, son of Latif, resident of Dhanori, near Birma Bridge, Udhampur. The police detailed him under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
The accused person was promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to the local youth of district Udhampur. His activities posed a serious threat to public health and safety.
It is pertinent to mention here that many cases were registered against him. The police remains committed to its mission of making the district drug-free and will continue to take strict action against individuals involved in the illegal drug trade, a police spokesman said.
