Notorious drug peddler arrested

RAJOURI, Jan 1: Police arrested a notorious drug peddler during patrolling at Shahdra Sharief Road and recovered 7.80 grams of heroin from his possession.
A team of PS Thanamandi, led by SHO, Inspector Hilal Azhar, under the supervision SDPO Thannamandi, Parupkar Singh, apprehended the accused, identified as Mohd Iqbal, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Mir, resident of Ward No. 3, Majoor Rajdhani. During frisking, 7.80 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession.
According to Police, the accused is a notorious drug peddler and had been evading arrest for a long time. He is alleged to be involved in supplying drugs, particularly targeting college students and local youth, thereby posing a serious threat to society.
In this connection, FIR No. 01/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Thanamandi. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and to identify other persons involved in this illegal trade.
