Notorious criminal arrested

SRINAGAR, July 27: Police arrested a notorious criminal namely Nayeem Ahmad Wani who was involved in cases of robbery, theft, forgery and kidnapping in Kupwara and Srinagar districts.
A police spokesman said that Nayeem, a resident of Kulangam-Handwara was arrested from Kupwara. Nayeem was involved in case FIR No. 19/2012 under Section 379, 419, 420 RPC of police station Kupwara, case FIR No. 271/2001 under Section 212 RPC, case FIR no 336/2005 under Section 364, 347, 506 RPC, case FIR no: 17/2006 under Section 363 RPC, 7/25 A. Act, case FIR no : 48/206 under section 392 RPC, case FIR no: 128/2007 under Section 324, 223 RPC registered against him in police station Handwara, case FIR no : 33/2011 under Section 366, 342 RPC in police station Nowgam and FIR No. 09/2012 under Section 420 RPC in Police Station Sadder, Srinagar.
The criminal has been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) and shifted to Kot Balwal Jail in Jammu so that a curb is put on his activities and also to give relief to public.
Meanwhile, Police arrested four timber smugglers namely Ghulam Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, Nawab Khan son of Sheereen Khan, Subhan Bhat son of Gani Bhat and Nazir Khan son of Saifdin Khan residents of Mir Muqam, Awoora in Kupwara district.
The police have also arrested two forest employees Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Lone, son of Salam Lone resident of Gulgam (forest guard) and Abdul Rashid Peer, son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Gulgam (helper) in connection with the timber smuggling in the Trehgam area of Kupwara district.
A case FIR No. 36/2012 under Section 379 RPC, 6 F Act has been registered in police station Trehgam.
The police apprehended two burglars in Kreeri area of Baramulla district and recovered stolen goods from them.
A police spokesman said that during the intervening night of July 24 and 25, a Police Party of Police Station Kreeri while on night patrolling apprehended two suspicious persons Ajaz Ahmad Shala son of Mohammad Subhan Shala resident of Hyder Colony, Sopore and Ishtiyaq Ahmad Wani son of Mohammad Shafi Wani resident of Hanfia Colony Sopore near Hanfia Masjid Sharief at Wagila Kreeri.
On preliminary questioning they disclosed that they were on burglary prowl and had stolen a digital clock, two electric lights and two chargers from Hanfia Masjid Sharief Wagila. A case FIR No.52/2012 U/S 457,380 RPC has been registered in Police Station Kreeri.
