JAMMU, Jan 12: Bahu Fort Police worked out a theft case with the arrest of notorious burglar-cum-extortionist along with sharp edged weapon and stolen items.
As per police sources, while investigating a case registered under FIR Number 06/2022 under Sections 380 and 427 IPC, a team from Police Station Bahu Fort led by SHO Inspector Nayat Ali under the supervision of SDPO East Sajad Sarwar conducted series of raids in different areas and finally nabbed the burglar.
The arrested burglar was identified as Basit Khan, son of Mohammad Salim Khan, a resident of Ward Number 2 District Rajouri, at present Duggian Bhatindi District Jammu. From his possession, a sharp edged weapon and stolen items including lady purse containing cash and some documents. He had stolen the lady purse by breaking the rare window pane of a car near Bahu Plaza on January 5 this year. A Baleno car bearing registration number JK11C-0060 used for commission of crime was also recovered and seized accordingly. He also damaged some cars while fleeing from the spot of theft.
It is pertinent to mention here that the arrested accused was involved in extortion case of Rs 10 lakh registered with Police Station Bahu Fort.
Further questioning of the accused is going on to ascertain his involvement in other theft/extortion cases.
