Notorious bovines’ smuggler booked under PSA

DODA, Sept 30: A notorious bovines’ smuggler has been booked under stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) here.
As per official spokesman, a notorious bovine smuggler namely Talib Hussain, son of Mohd Ibrahim, a resident of Manjmi Dessa Tehsil Bhagwah has been detained under PSA under the order passed by District Magistrate Doda and lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah for his repeated involvement in bovine smuggling cases.
The spokesman further said that the accused was repeated offender of bovine smuggling. He was active since 2012 and involved in 8 FIRs of bovine smuggling registered against him in Police Station Doda.
“The accused was kept under surveillance and ultimately on the basis of technical and human intelligence a team of Police Station Doda succeeded to apprehend him. The accused was not only active in Doda District but also indulged in bovines smuggling in adjoining areas of Doda. His detention under PSA will definitely act as deterrence to the criminals and bovine smugglers of the area to desist from bovines smuggling in future”, the spokesman informed.
It is pertinent to mention here that under operation Kamdhenu, Doda Police has launched a special drive against the bovine smugglers and this year 31 cases of bovine smuggling have been registered so far in which 81 persons have been arrested, 10 vehicles involved in transportation of bovine animals have been seized and 418 cattle were rescued.
