UDHAMPUR, July 15: Udhampur Police have booked and detained a notorious bovine smuggler under Public Safety Act (PSA).
According to Police, Mohd Saleem alias Bachu, son of Hashim Din, resident of Baishty, Tehsil Chenani has been detained under PSA and the detention order was issued by the District Magistrate Udhampur.

Mohd Saleem has been involved in several bovine smuggling cases registered in the district. Despite multiple FIRs and previous arrests, he continued his illegal activities, posing a serious threat to public peace. Consequently, he has been booked under the PSA and lodged in jail, police said.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police attached one more vehicle (Mahindra Bolero Pick-Up) of a bovine smuggler, namely Bashir Ahmed, son of Gulab Din of By Pass Sunjwan, Jammu.
The vehicle, bearing registration number JK02CR-6093, valued at Rs10 lakhs was linked to a bovine smuggling case vide FIR number 96/2025, registered under Sections 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act at Police Station Rehambal.
During the course of investigation, it was found that the vehicle was being used in bovine smuggling and was deemed to be a proceed of crime. Acting as per the law, the property was attached under Section 107 BNSS following due court orders from the Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Udhampur.
