UDHAMPUR, Oct 12: Army Public School (APS) Udhampur hosted two- days’ Northern Command Principals’ Meet Oct 10-11, 2019 which marked the presence of Lt Gen SK Sharma, Chief of Staff -NC, Maj Gen Rajeev Nanda MG-IC Admn besides other dignitaries.
The meet commenced with a special theme “Inclusion in Education ” and was in line with AWES’ prime objective of providing quality education to the wards of Indian Army personnel at affordable cost.
The event started with a welcome song presented by the little champs of APS Udhampur followed by the welcome address by Brig TS Sandhu, Dy GOC , 71 Sub Area.
Lt Gen SK Sharma, shared his thoughts and experiences in his inaugural address. He touched upon the importance of including every child in the process of learning and also emphasised the importance quality education and providing the apt environment to the learners.
Col (Retd) AK Sharma, Director AWES , NC , presented the academic appraisals and update followed by felicitation of winners in various categories by Lt Gen SK Sharma. Ruchi Bahl , Principal APS Nagrota bagged the ‘Best Principal’ award in the entire NC besides taking away the award for “Academic Excellence” for classes 10th and 12th for the session 2018-19. APS Udhampur took the lead in ‘Sports’. The trophy for CCA category was shared by APS Dhar Road, APS Nagrota and APS Udhampur. Rakesh Chander of APS Akhnoor won the ‘Best PGT’ award and BK Pathak of APS Udhampur and Rita Kaul of APS Akhnoor took away the trophies of ‘Best TGT’ and ‘Best PRT’ respectively.
The meeting also witnessed the discussion on various agenda points which were duly addressed by Col (Retd) Deepak Gupta , Director Schools, Hqs AWES . He further apprised the meet with the New Education Policy 2019.
SK Singh, Master trainer CBSE was invited as resource person to throw light on the need and benefits of ‘Inclusion in Education’. The topic generated inquisitiveness and concerns were discussed at length.
The two days’ affair concluded with the vote of thanks by Maj Gen Rajeev Nanda.
