JAMMU: China has invited Northern Army Commander Lt Gen DS Hooda alongwith other Generals as part of the delegation for dialogue with People’s Liberation Army of China in mid-December this year.
“Political leadership and the both sides are likely to discuss boundary disputes and other issues to maintain peace and tranquility along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh and other parts of the country during the meeting,” official spokesman here today said.
They said Lt Gen Hooda has been invited by China and the neighbouring country will be playing host to him for discussions on variety of issues including the LAC.
Sources however, said, ”exact dates for the visit are being worked out but it will be in the mid-December this year,” adding, invitation was received by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Army Headquarters, which has been accepted while nod has been given to the visit.
He said the military delegation will visit China for four days and hold talks with top Chinese leaders and officials of the PLA on series of issues, including unsettled boundary disputes.
The disputes between the countries arose mainly because the LAC has not been demarcated and during past one-and-a-half year, the incursions by the Chinese Army in Ladakh of Jammu and Kashmir have come down and that too were resolved amicably by the two sides.
“The visit will go a long way in ensuring peace in the region,” sources asserted.
