JAMMU, Nov 24: Department of Pediatrics, SMGS Hospital, Government Medical College Jammu, in collaboration with Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) Jammu Branch, organized three-day North Zone YUVA PEDICON 2025 at SMGS Hospital, Jammu.
During the conference, deliberation were done on current topics on child health in form of seminars, panel discussions and poster presentations by the young pediatric Faculty and delegates from all over the North India.
One of the key highlights of the conference was the bestowal of Lifetime Achievement Awards to three distinguished pediatricians for their exemplary contributions to the field of child health
Prof Dr Rekha Harish, former HOD, Department of Pediatrics, SMGS Hospital, GMC Jammu; Prof. Dr G S Saini, former HOD, Department of Pediatrics, SMGS Hospital, GMC Jammu; Prof Dr Ravinder K Gupta, HOD, Department of Pediatrics, ASCOMS, Jammu were conferred with the award.
Prof Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal, GMC Jammu; Prof Dr Harish K Pemde, Vice President North Zone IAP; Dr Dara Singh, Medical Superintendent, SMGS Hospital; Prof. Dr Ashok K. Gupta, former HOD Pediatrics, GMC Jammu graced the occasion as guests.
Dr Anuj Bhati, Organising Chairperson, set the stage for two days of academic sessions, discussions, and interactive learning.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sanjeev K Digra, Professor & Head, Department of Pediatrics, thanked Dr Vasant Khalatkar and Dr Harish K Pemde for giving this opportunity to Yuva team of IAP Jammu to organise NZ- YUVA PEDICON at Jammu. He praised the collaborative efforts of Dr. Anuj Bhati, Dr. Surjit Kumar, and the entire Organising Committee for successfully bringing together a conference that beautifully blended academics, culture, and sports to inspire overall growth and enthusiasm.
Grand inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr Vasant Khalatkar, National President, Indian Academy of Pediatrics 2025, as the chief guest.
The three-day event began with a workshop on Pediatric Echocardiography conducted at GMC Udhampur under the supervision of Dr Deepak Gupta, HOD Pediatrics GMC Udhampur.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Dr Suraj Gupte as the chief guest and Dr S S Slathia as guest of honour. Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr Surjit Kumar, Chief Organising Secretary.
