Normalizing religious violence is Congress’ “New Low”: Gaurav

JAMMU, Dec 25: Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson and convenor for International Affairs Gaurav Gupta today launched a scathing attack on the Congress party over its response to the violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, accusing it of repeatedly diluting and rationalizing targeted attacks for political convenience.
Reacting to remarks made by senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, Gupta said describing the lynching and persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh as a “reaction” reflects a disturbing mindset that seeks to normalize religious violence instead of condemning it unequivocally. “It exposes the Congress party’s long-standing approach of appeasement politics, where Hindu suffering is brushed aside to protect a particular vote-bank narrative,” he asserted.
The BJP spokesperson pointed out that this is not the first time Congress has taken positions that weaken India’s stand on issues of national and civilizational importance. “From questioning India’s firm response to terrorism and national security actions in the past to now echoing narratives that indirectly legitimize radical violence, Congress has consistently chosen politics over principle,” Gupta said.
He added that the BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister NarendraModi, has consistently raised concerns about the safety and rights of minorities in neighbouring countries at appropriate diplomatic and international forums. “India believes in peaceful coexistence, but it cannot remain silent when systematic persecution of Hindus and other minorities takes place in our neighbourhood,” Gupta stated.
Gupta warned that failure to clearly condemn such acts sends a dangerous signal to extremist elements across the region. “This is not just political insensitivity it is a moral failure. The Congress party’s rhetoric emboldens radical forces and weakens the global fight against religious extremism,” he remarked.
Calling for introspection within the Congress, Gupta said the people of India expect national parties to stand firmly against violence, irrespective of religion or geography.
