JAMMU, Jan 18: The National Old Pension Restoration United Front (NOPRUF) organized a pivotal one-day convention at the Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, urging the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). The event, attended by Government employees, prominent trade union leaders, and several dignitaries, resonated with a unified call to secure the financial future of government employees across Jammu and Kashmir.
The convention was presided over by B P Singh Rawat, National President of NOPRUF, with distinguished guests including Jeelani Naik, Sijjan Singh, Raghunandan, Gurmeet Singh, Ashish Sharma, Uttam Singh and Kamal Deep Singh.
In his address, Rawat emphasized that the OPS was a crucial aspect of financial security for Government employees. Rajesh Sharma, President NOPRUF J&K, called for stronger unity among trade unions across Jammu and Kashmir, urging all employees, especially those appointed under NPS, to actively participate in the movement. He said, “The restoration of OPS is not just a financial necessity; it’s a moral responsibility.”
Jeelani Naik appealed to the Prime Minister to restore OPS in line with the “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” vision, commending the Chief Minister for including OPS restoration in the party’s manifesto. He emphasized that employee welfare is central to the progress of Jammu and Kashmir.
