JAMMU, Sept 26:  Expressing serious concern over the  non-functioning of  CCTVs across the Jammu city, Police Pensioners Welfare Forum (PPWF-NG) has termed it as great security threat.
In a meeting of the Forum held today under the chairmanship of Ajit Singh, the members pointed out that due to non-functioning of CCTVs installed at various city points and especially at the parking slots for the last many months, the negligence on the part of Administration has been exposed. The Forum pointed out that on Sept 2, 2017 one Gurmeet Singh was kidnapped from Nai Basti, Satwari by some unknown persons at gun point in broad day light. The kidnappers projected themselves as police personnel  by showing I-card, when  he was parking his bike at Nai Basti Market  and on Sept 5, they dropped him at Jewel Chowk by Sumo and handed over a slip of Bakshi Nagar Hospital Parking of his bike which the kidnappers parked lately there. When police investigated the matter, it was found that CCTVs installed at GMC Hospital Parking Bakshinagar were lying out of order for the past several months.
They said the negligence on the part  of Administration stood exposed and the concerned agencies must take serious note of it. This is not the isolated case, many CCTVs installed across the city points are lying out of order and no body bothers about it.
