SRINAGAR, May 4: A nomadic woman from Reasi district, who was temporarily residing in the Nishat area of Srinagar, died today after sexual assault.
Initial reports said the woman sustained critical injuries during the alleged assault. She was immediately shifted to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Police have arrested one of the accused, a resident of Nishat, while his accomplice from Sumbal Sonawari remains absconding. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the second individual.
The accused have been identified as Suhail Bashir Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat of Sumbal in Bandipora district and Adil Ahmad Dar son of Ali Mohammad Dar of Nishat Srinagar.
