He was responding to calls within Pakistan for awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asif Munir, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. “One doesn’t work for the Nobel Prize; one works for humanity. Those who demand the Nobel Prize. it is unfortunate. There is a better cause than the Nobel Prize. It is the cause of humanity,” Abdullah told reporters after offering Friday congregational prayers at the Hazratbal Shrine.
Abdullah said wars continue to harm humanity and emphasized the need to prioritise peace. “Humanity suffers due to wars, and it is humanity that must be saved,” he said.
He also expressed hope for lasting peace in the region, welcoming the cessation of hostilities. “We should be grateful to God that the war stopped. May wars end completely and peace prevail across the world so that we can all benefit,” he added.
