Speaking to reporters after holding a public grievances redressal camp in the Malwan village of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, Itoo said that the people have entrusted the Government with a five-year mandate, during which their issues will be addressed.
“We have not provided a specific timeframe to fulfill the promises made in our manifesto. The people have given us a five-year mandate, and during this period, we will deliver on our commitments,” she said.
The Minister acknowledged the challenges faced by the people but emphasized that resolving them is achievable. “In the next five years, we will ensure that the issues faced by the people are resolved,” she added.
Addressing the power shortages that worsen during the harsh winters in Kashmir, she noted that while electricity issues persist, there has been some improvement.
“These issues have reduced. The Chief Minister’s visit to Delhi secured an additional electricity supply, resulting in fewer power cuts,” she explained.
On employment, Itoo reiterated the Government’s commitment and highlighted progress.
“We are committed to providing one lakh jobs. As part of this, 1,000 posts have already been referred to recruitment boards. Additionally, 300 doctors have been employed. Aren’t these steps towards fulfilling our promises?” she asserted.
Earlier, during her address to the gathering, the Minister discussed various local issues and pledged to work toward their resolution. She specifically mentioned her commitment to developing local infrastructure.
“I will do whatever I can. There is a need for a playground in Malwan, and I will direct the officers to identify suitable land. I will ensure that the youth here get the best playground,” she said.
However, she clarified the limitations of her role in land acquisition. “I cannot provide the land, nor can the Government acquire it for playground construction. If the community identifies land, I will ensure the best facilities,” she said.
The Minister further remarked that the government is fully aware of the challenges faced by the people in rural areas and this camp is an opportunity for us to listen to their issues at their doorsteps and also take immediate actions to resolve them.
She assured the gathering that their demands would be met with tangible actions, resulting in visible improvements and benefits for the community.
