No names in electoral rolls, KPs stage protest

JAMMU, Aug 10: Many Kashmiri Pandit migrants under the banner of Durga Nagar Welfare Committee (DNWC) here today staged a protest demonstration against the absence of their names from the Municipal Electoral Rolls.
The protesters said that their names existed in the Municipal Electoral Rolls in the year 2004-05 but now the same are not there.
They have appealed to the Governor N.N Vohra and Chief Electoral Officer J&K to look into the matter and ensure that they may also participate in the upcoming municipal elections.
Prominent among those present in the protest included R.L Raina, President DNWC; M.L Pandita, Vice President; Badri Nath, Member; D.N Kissu, Chairman All India United Front; Makhan Lal, Mandal President BJP; Satish, General Secretary BJP and others.
