JAMMU, Mar 30: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has strongly urged the Chief Minister to enhance the monthly Medical Allowance from Rs300 to Rs 1000/-per month of the employees and pensioners and decision in this regard should be taken in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet meeting.
Addressing a NMC workers meeting here, its president Subhash Shastri said that this genuine demand is based on the steep rise in the cost of medicine’s and medical expenses over the last two decades. Shastri has further cited that UT of Ladakh has already implemented a Rs 1000 per month Medical allowance to its pensioners, w.e.f April Ist 2020.
Shastri pointed out that all the union territories expect JKUT have providing Rs one thousand medical allowance to their pensioners, but in JKUT only three hundred per month, is provided hoping that this genuine demands of the pensioners will be sort out in the budget. He also demanded the release of 18 months of pending DA arrears from January 2020 to June 2021.
Shastri appealed the Prime Minister and Union Finance Minister to release the outstanding 3 DA installments arrears blocked while releasing the same to its employees and pensioners since long. Shastri further hoped that the Central Government will consider the burning demand of both Central/States/UTs employees and pensioners in releasing the 3 DA installments blocked arrears beside 3 percent DA due from first January 2026.
The Govt. must regularise the services of all daily rated workers without any further delay and fulfill it’s commitment made by the ruling alliance from time to time to these daily rated workers, Shastri added.
