JAMMU, Sept 25: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has urged the Central Government to immediately appoint the Chairman and members of the 8th Central Pay Commission (PC), citing delays despite Union Cabinet approval more than eight months ago.
In a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, NMC president Subash Shastri stressed that with the 8th Pay Commission due to be implemented from January 1, 2026, the panel needs adequate time to finalize its recommendations. He said timely action would remove uncertainty among Central Government employees and pensioners regarding their future pay and benefits.
Shastri also demanded merger of 50 percent Dearness Allowance (DA) into basic pay or pension, as DA has already crossed 55 percent. He pressed for restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, release of the pending 3% DA from July 1, 2025, and establishment of a National Wage Commission to ensure a unified wage policy.
Other demands included granting B-1 city status to Jammu and Srinagar, enhancement of pension relief in J&K UT, reduction of the pension commutation period, and additional pension hikes at ages 65, 70, and 75.
