JAMMU, Nov 4: The National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has urged the 8th Pay Commission to recommend the merger of 50 percent Dearness Allowance (DA) and payment of 20 percent interim relief for employees and pensioners of both Central and State Governments.
In a memorandum sent to the commission’s chairman, Justice Rajana Parkash Desai, NMC President Subash Shastri said that rising inflation has severely affected Government employees and pensioners, making it difficult for them to meet daily expenses.
Shastri also appealed to the commission to start State and Union Territory visits soon to hold discussions with all stakeholders and frame recommendations within the stipulated time.
He proposed that a schedule of meetings be prepared to ensure that the commission’s final recommendations are implemented simultaneously for Central and State employees and pensioners without any anomalies.
He further suggested that the Central Government should make arrangements to financially assist States and Union Territories facing resource constraints so they can implement the 8th Pay Commission’s recommendations in one go.
