JAMMU, July 29: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today urged the Prime Minister to announce the pending installment of 7 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) in favour of both Central and State Government employees at the earliest.
Addressing a largely attended NMC workers rally here, Subash Shastri, president, said that delay in release of DA would not only put burden on the Central Government exchequer to liquidate the arrears but also increase the difficulties of both Central and State Governments.
Stressing for formulating a National Pay Policy throughout the country, Shastri demanded for setting up of a new pay commission, which would cover both Central and State Government employees and pensioners, so that its recommendation could be implemented simultaneously throughout the nation.
Shastri also demanded merger of 50 percent DA of State Government employees and pensioners into their basic pay/pension at the earliest.
Highlighting other demands, Shastri demanded enhancement in the wages of the daily wagers to Rs 300 per day, regularization of the services of the daily rated workers, grant of disturbed area allowance on the pattern of North Eastern states to State Central Government employees, besides other demands.
Among others present were Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochar, Sham Lal Sharma, Rakesh Padha, Anil Singh Slathia, Ashok Khajuria, Bhopinder Singh, Mohan Lal Sharma, etc.
