SRINAGAR, July 25: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has been selected as one of the six premier institutions to be part of a Rs 2.3 crore grant under the Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research (PAIR) – Category B scheme, awarded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). The collaborative project will be spearheaded by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, the designated hub institution.
The initiative is designed to promote multi-institutional research through a hub-and-spoke model. The project will address two critical themes: Advanced Research and Education in Cancer Diagnostics and Therapeutics (CARE-CaDaT) and Synergistic Development of Semiconductor and Digital Technologies for the Automotive Sector. NIT Srinagar will contribute under the latter theme, focusing on indigenous technological solutions in semiconductor and automotive development.
The one-year project at NIT Srinagar is led by Dr Sheikh Aamir Ahsan, Assistant Professor, Electronics and Communication Engineering, serving as the Principal Investigator (PI). The project brings together a robust team of experts including Prof (HAG) Mohd Farooq Wani (Head MED), Prof (HAG) G A Harmain, Prof Adnan Qayoum (MED), Dr Sheikh Shahid Saleem, Dr Farhad Ilahi Bakhsh, Dr Mohammad Ahsan Chishti, Dr Anshul Gupta, Dr Ikhlaq Hussain, Dr Harkirat Singh, Dr Azher Jameel, Dr Hareesh Myneni, Dr Janibul Bashir, Dr Gh Rasool Begh, Dr Brajendra Singh Sengar, Dr Amit Kumar, Dr Ashok Kumar and Dr Mohd Nadeem Bhat.
The sanctioned grant of Rs 2.3 crore will be managed by IIT Kanpur, while NIT Srinagar and other institutions will actively engage in the project’s research and development components.
Prof Binod Kumar Kanaujia, Director, NIT Srinagar, stated, “This collaboration highlights our growing research capacity. The semiconductor and automotive sectors are vital for India’s technological growth, and we are proud to contribute.”
Prof Atikur Rehman, Registrar, emphasized the strength of NIT’s multidisciplinary team, while Prof Roohie Naaz, Dean Research and Consultancy, called it a milestone towards becoming a research-intensive institute aligned with national priorities.
