Nirmal awarded with Sahitya Akademi’s National Translation Award

JAMMU, Sept 19: Yashpaul Nirmal, a young poet, short story writer, Critic, translator and cultural activist of J&K was awarded with the prestigious Sahitya Akademi’s National Translation Award for his book ‘Mian Deedo’ in an impressive function held at Dibrugarh University, Assam.
‘Mian Deedo’ is a translation of original Punjabi Play ‘Deedo Jamwal’ written by Kripa Sagar and published in 1934 from Lahore (now in Pakistan). The award was in the shape of a traditional Assame Gamsha, a cheque of Rs 50000 and a citation.
Born in 1978 at Ghari Bishna, a village of Tehsil Akhnoor, Yashpaul Nirmal started his writing in 1994-95 and published his first Book Anmole Zindagi in 1996 which is a collection of Dogri Poetry. There are 24 books in his credit till now.
He had already been awarded with the various awards and honors including Patarkarita Bharti Award 2004, Jammu Kashmir Rattan Award 2010, Duggar Pardesh Yuva Sangathan Award 2011, Leela Devi Memorial Award 2012, and Maharaja Ranbir Singh Award 2013 are main.
