JAMMU, Oct 1: The nine- day long Navratra festival celebrations started across the Jammu region today with religious fervor and gaiety.
All the temples of Goddess Durga all over the region were fully decorated by the respective management committees and devotees. There was a heavy rush of devotees and pilgrims drawn from different parts of the region in these temples from early in the morning.
At various places nine day long Maha Yagyas also started which will culminate on the occasion of Maha Navmi falling on October 10.
In Jammu City the celebration of nine day long festival has started at Bawe Wali Mata Temple early this morning.
A large number of devotees started visiting the holy temple from early in the morning to pay their obeisance to Goddess and participate in Navratra puja there.
During the nine day long festival various social and religious organizations are organizing free langers for devotees daily during the festival.
Among the religious organisations Chandan Brahm-Putra Sanstha, Jammu is organizing Langer for devotees on October 4.
The entire temple complex has been fully decorated by the Managing Committee of the temple while the authorities have also made elaborative security arrangements for the devotees.
There has been a bee line of pilgrims at Kandoli Mata temple at Nagrota where the nine day long Navratra festival started today.
The nine-day long Navratra festival celebrations have also started at Bhagavaan Gopi Nath Ji Ashram Udaywala Bohri, Swami Kumar Ji Ashram Muthi, Swami Posh Bub Ashram, Laxmi Puram Chinore, Uma temple Muthi etc.
As per reports from other districts the Navratra festival celebrations have started at Sukhrala Mata  and Bala Sundri temples in Billawar tehsil, Jodawali and Dola Wali Mata temples in Bani Tehsil, Chanchalla Mata Temple in Basholi tehsil, and Jasrota temple in Rajbagh area of Kathua as well as Chechi Mata temple in Samba district from today.
All these temples have been fully decorated and hundreds of devotees started thronging there from early this morning. The rush of devotees will continue during the festival days.
Besides the traditional Ram Leela has also started at Billawar, Bado, Ramkote and Kathua today. At Kathua the Ram Leela was inaugurated by MLA, Rajeev Jasrotia. However Ram Leela at Basholi will start tomorrow.
