Nickel futures fall on muted demand

NEW DELHI, Dec 12:  Nickel prices dropped 0.60 per cent to Rs 717 per kg in futures trade today amid muted demand at domestic spot markets and profit-booking by speculators.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in December was trading lower by Rs 4.30, or 0.60 per cent down, at Rs 717 per kg, in a business turnover of 602 lots.
The metal for delivery in January also shed Rs 3.70, or 0.51 per cent, to Rs 7.70 per kg, in a turnover of 11 lots.
Analysts said the fall in nickel prices in futures trade is mostly attributed to a weakening trend at the domestic spot market due to easing demand from alloy-makers and profit- booking by speculators at current levels. (PTI)
