Earlier, the NIA summoned Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) president Yasin Khan to New Delhi for questioning.
The Valley’s trade and transport bodies today called for a shutdown on Monday across Kashmir against summoning of Khan.
Addressing a press conference here, the representatives of trade and transport bodies termed the NIA summon to Khan a conspiracy and said that it is an attempt to crush Valley’s economy which is already in tatters.
KTMF senior vice president Manzoor Ahmad Bhat told reporters that calling Khan for questioning to Delhi is uncalled for. “We are not against probe but when NIA is already operating in Kashmir why was Khan called to Delhi. It makes no sense. The NIA summon is nothing but undue and uncalled for harassment of the business community and to make him suffer for none of his fault”.
Bhat said for the past over three years they were constantly apprehending that attempts were being made to crush Kashmir economy. “The NIA summon has only vindicated our worst fears that this probe is aimed at crushing Kashmir’s economy through arm twisting tactics,” he alleged.
While calling for shutdown on behalf of trade and transport bodies on September 25 (Monday), Bhat urged business community to stay united at this crucial juncture.
