Home Ministry has taken a belated step of installing full-fledged NIA for J&K which will control the Northern India with headquarter in J&K. NIA has been created by the Home Ministry. Keeping in mind the purpose of taking this decision clearly shows that this step should have been taken ten years ago. By now, much delay has been made and much loss has been incurred in terms of human life and a peaceful society.
Kashmir is running 27th year of armed insurgency. There appears no relent in this conflict. How come that an insurgency movement has been made to sustain such a long period? It needs funding and only funding has kept the movement strong. Funds are coming to the militants and their leaders in huge quantity from the Gulf States, Saudi Arabia and especially from the Pakistani Diaspora in parts of Europe, Gulf States and the US. ISI and its affiliates have launched a world -wide propaganda of presenting Kashmiris as the victims of Indian oppression and violation of human rights and thus invoking sympathy.
Enormous funding has been going on to sustain insurgency in Kashmir. For a long time, hawala was the source through which foreign remittances flowed but when the intelligence sleuths uncovered some of the hawala activists and framed them under the law, the practice of sending money through hawala saw a sharp decline. But then the funding sources found new methods of sending funds to relatively unknown and ordinary persons’ bank account and with arrangement for the final recipients of the funds, money would be withdrawn and siphoned off to the militants. Convinced that this racket had to be busted, the Home Ministry has opened a full-fledged branch of NIA in J&K to keep close watch on this criminal activity among other crimes committed by the militants and their sympathizers.
