KARGIL, Mar 25: In a continued effort to promote sustainable development and community welfare in the region, NHPC Limited’s Chutak Power Station today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Administration, Kargil under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Development (SD) initiatives for the financial year 2025-26.
The agreement, valued at Rs 36.25 lakh, mark another step towards strengthening public services and supporting local livelihoods in Kargil.
Under the MoU, NHPC will provide critical assistance to essential services, including the deployment of one ambulance each for PHE Tiket and PHE Sangrah to enhance emergency response and healthcare accessibility.
The initiative also aims to empower Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across the district by distributing tailoring machines, wool processing units, and apricot oil extraction machinery.
These measures are expected to promote women-led income generation and encourage self-reliance among local communities.
In the education sector, the project includes infrastructure upgrades at Government Middle School, Chutuk, where wooden panelling and flooring work will be undertaken to improve the learning environment for students.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Kargil, the Group General Manager and Head of Chutak Power Station, along with senior officials from the District Administration and NHPC Limited.
