JAMMU, Oct 3: NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydropower company and a ‘Mini Ratna’ Category-I Enterprise of the Government of India, has paid a final dividend of Rs 479 crore to Government of India for the financial year 2015-16 in addition to interim dividend of Rs 875.49 crore paid in the month of March 2016.The aggregate dividend pay out to Govt of India for the financial year 2015-16 comes to Rs 1354.49 crore.
The dividend payout bank advice for an amount of Rs 479 crore was presented today to Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines by K M Singh, CMD, NHPC Limited in the presence of Pradeep Kumar Pujari, Secretary (Power), Govt. of India, R S Mina, Director (Personnel), Jayant Kumar, Director (Finance), Ratish Kumar, Director (Projects), Balraj Joshi, Director (Technical) and other senior officers of Ministry of Power and NHPC Limited.
In its 40th Annual General Meeting held last month, final dividend at the rate of Rs 1.50/- per equity share, including interim dividend of Rs 0.92 per equity share of the face value, already paid in March 2016, was approved by members of the Company.
NHPC has more than eight lakh shareholders and total dividend pay-out for the year 2015-16, including interim dividend, has worked out to Rs 1660.61 crore, as against Rs 664.25 crore for the financial year 2014-15. NHPC came up with its maiden IPO in 2009 and since then NHPC has been paying dividend at the rate of more than 30 percent of the profit after tax (PAT) consistently.
NHPC had earned net profit of Rs 2,440.14 crore for the financial year 2015-16 as against the previous year corresponding figure of Rs 2124.47 crore.
