JAMMU, Mar 6: A deputation of NHM employees headed by Rohit Seth (president, NHM Employees Association) met Lt Governor of J&K, GC Murmu, and on behalf of thousands of contractual employees of all categories working in National Health Mission J&K presented a memorandum highlighting their demands and problems.
Stating that the NHM is indispensible component of health delivery system and it is an unending essentiality as regards public health, the deputation appealed the LG to regularize staff working in NHM. It further urged the LG to grant the J&K NHM employees the same grade pay as is being paid to their counterparts in Delhi and Haryana, pending regularization.
The deputation also demanded that the decisions arrived at during negotiations with NHM representatives may be implemented in letter and spirit, besides releasing the salary of the all NHM staff for the agitation/termination period at the earliest please.
The members of the deputation also urged for grant of leave benefits as per agreement arrived at and on the analogy of the States of Odisha and Tripura, besides ensuring monthly payment of wages, giving EPF number/code to all NHM staff as deduction is being regularly done from their salaries on account of EPF.
“The meagerly paid NHM employees in various cadres be adjusted nearest to their homes as posted them in far flung areas away from their homes is a financial burden on them, additional allowances for education of children and health insurance cover be given to NHM employees having put in more than 8 years of regular service on the analogy of Government employees and exempting them from Sunday and gazette holiday duties or paid incentive/two and half day salary to them,” they urged the LG, who assured them early redressal and the fulfillment of their demands.
