NH project affecting locals of Chamba: Ashok

JAMMU, Apr 27: Former MLA Ramban, Ashok Kumar today urged upon the Lieutenant Governor to seriously look into the causal working style of Gammon Company, its sublet Contractors and all other concerned officers.
While interacting with the affected families Ashok said, immediate compensation should be given to each affected family of Chamba-a small hamlet in Seri (Ramban) where several houses are completely damaged and are on the verge of collapse due to insensitive cutting of slopes below in the process of construction of NH-44 four lane project from Nashri to Banihal in Ramban district.
He said that formation of dust clouds on everyday basis has become menace for the locals in the project of four-lane and it is going to impact their lives in long run and may cause chronic diseases to the locals.
“Due to unconventional methods and corrupt practices in project of four-lane at NH-44, common citizens along the periphery have been facing many difficulties in their everyday livelihood,” Kumar maintained appealing to the Union Ministry of Road and Transport and J&K government to take cognizance of the matter and provide immediate financial help to the affected families.
