JAMMU, Dec 5: A new trust, Shakuntla Roshan Lal Vohra (SRLV) Charitable and Welfare Trust was launched here today.
The trust was inaugurated with the launch of the SRLV website and release of the book Looking through the window: Northeast Poetry Anthology edited by Prof Anupama Vohra and Dr Prasanta Chakraborty.
The book was launched by the chief guest Anuradha Gupta, Director General, Youth Services and Sports J&K UT, guest of honuor Prof Lalit Mangotra, recipient of Padma Shri Award along with special guest Prof Javed Rahi, additional secretary, JKAACL in the presence of SRLV Trust members and distinguished audience.
The president of the trust Prof Anupama Vohra acquainted the audience with the vision and objectives of the SRLV trust which has been launched under the patronage of Veena Suri as a tribute to the legacy of their parents Shakuntla and Roshan Lal Vohra.
Anuradha Gupta in her address congratulated the Trust members on the release of the book and extended a heartfelt appreciation to the organizers of the function.
Prof Lalit Mangotra offered his blessings to the SRLV trust and also threw light on the various ways the SRLV Trust can take up philanthropic work.
Dr Javed Rahi talked about the assimilation of people, understanding of different cultures, traditions, rituals and language through their literature.
Prof Jasbir Singh presented the welcome address and Dr Sindhuja Gupta, Treasurer SRLV Trust presented the vote of thanks.
On behalf of SRLV Trust, souvenirs of gratitude were presented to the guests by Veena, patron of SRLV Trust.
Faculty, officers and scholars from the University of Jammu, Cluster University Jammu, writers, poets and members from the civil society graced the function.
