Srinagar, Nov 5: Veteran Bollywood actor and politician Raj Babbar today said he has never felt unsafe in Kashmir.
Describing it as a land of love, peace, and warmth, he said the Valley has played a defining role in shaping his film career.
Speaking to reporters during his visit to tourist resort Gulmarg, Babbar said Kashmir was integral to his cinematic journey, recalling that many of his films were shot in the Valley.
“This is the Valley where I truly began. From 1980 to 1996-97, there wasn’t a single film I didn’t shoot in Kashmir. Whether it was Armaan, Aapas Ki Baat or others – Kashmir has always been part of my work,” he said.
The veteran actor praised the hospitality of the Kashmiri people, saying he always found the place safe and welcoming.
“I never felt Kashmir was unsafe or terrorised. People here greet you with smiles and love – and that love has never decreased,” Babbar said.
He lauded the spirit of Kashmiriyat, which he described as another name for Insaniyat (humanity).
He also thanked the local administration, including the Chief Executive Officer of the Gulmarg Development Authority, for extending hospitality during his stay.
Encouraging tourists and filmmakers to visit, Babbar said the Valley offers a peaceful atmosphere ideal for tourism and film shooting.
“There is no terror here. Everyone should come and witness the beauty and peace of Kashmir themselves. It is fit for everything – from tourism to film shooting,” he said.
He stressed that no matter where one travels, Kashmir remains the final destination.
