JAMMU, Jan 12: As their pleas failed to yield results after authorities totally ignored them, the residents of JDA Colony Sector 1, adjoining Rajinder Nagar Bantalab constructed an important culvert connecting from Prof Sadhu’s house through voluntary contribution.
In a statement issued here, today the residents of the colony said after they failed to get a positive response from the concerned officers regarding construction of culvert on a drain, they collected Rs 2000 each from 10 house holds and constructed the culvert on the drain to avert any mishap as the smart city has yet once again failed to provide any relief to residents of the area.
The residents of the colony said they have been running from pillar to post for renovation of lanes and drains and visited Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Office many times and approached others concerned people but to no avail. They said that residents were informed that Municipality team has prepared estimation and hopefully it will be approved unfortunately that approval has not been granted till day and seeing the apathy of Government officials the residents of Sector one have contributed Rs 2000 from each house hold (10 houses) and constructed the culvert on their own.
