NDPS cases disposal rate reaches 81.55% in 2025, says SSP Samba

SAMBA, Dec 31: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba Virinder Singh Manhas today stated that police registered 70 FIRs under the NDPS Act, showing a 60% increase over 2024.
He said the disposal rate of NDPS cases reached 81.55%, a significant improvement over the previous year.
According to him, four drug peddlers were detained under the PIT NDPS Act, while attachment of properties of drug traffickers increased by 33%, with the value of properties doubling.
He said focused action at identified drug hotspots led to a sharp rise in enforcement, including a 111% increase in FIRs, 84% increase in arrests, 146% increase in vehicle seizures, and 127% increase in detention of vagrants.
On general crime, the SSP said the case disposal rate improved from 52% to 55.54% during the year.
Cracking down on illegal mining, Police seized 652 vehicles, marking a 75% increase compared to 2024, he said.
In action against bovine smuggling, police registered 85 cases, seized 75 vehicles, rescued 703 bovines, and arrested 83 accused, the SSP Samba said.
During 2025, he said, 110 missing persons were traced and reunited with their families, 19 absconders were arrested, and 525 preventive actions were taken against 989 persons.
In cyber crime cases, he said, an amount of Rs 32.79 lakh was refunded to victims, while Rs 70.87 lakh was secured as lien. Besides, 59 cyber awareness programmes were conducted across the district.
