JAMMU, Mar 15: J&K unit of National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) today demanded making Jammu a separate State.
In a statement issued here, NDPI J&K president Rajesh Gupta said Jammu region has been subjected to an unabated discrimination, exploitation and oppression for more than 73 years.
Gupta said Hindus constitute about 70% population of the Jammu region but the nationalist people of Jammu kept on suffering, with colossal discrimination in terms of Government jobs, development of tourism, industries, infrastructure, road network and development of rural and border areas.
“People of Jammu, were very hopeful, that post abrogation of Articles 370 and 35 A, they will get the justice, but sadly their hopes have been completely shattered,” he said, adding, the people of Jammu region will always be at the receiving end under the UT.
He further added that management of such vast area as a UT comprising both the regions will adversely affect the development and governance. To ensure the equitable growth and development of both the regions, it is imperative that Jammu be made a separate State, he asserted.
