NCP leader’s plea to Guv

JAMMU, Feb 10:  Former minister and State NCP president Th Randhir Singh has sought the intervention of Governor NN Vohra  to cancel the notifications for already acquired most valuable agriculture land by SIDCO at Ghati-Maroli-Govindsar area at cheaper rates and selling to the industrialists at higher prices.
In a press statement, Mr Singh said that the  public hearing  conducted by State Pollution Board on the instructions of Ministry of Environment and Forests on 12/12/2012 at village Dabwal,  was also attended by him along with  many environmentalists who opposed the setting up of Industrial Estate at Ghati. Unfortunately, the SIDCO has already set up the infrastructure by cutting most valuable aromatic and medicinal plants in the area, costing millions of rupees.
Mr Singh said that the entire area right from Lakhanpur to Ujh bridge, on both sides of the National Highway besides industrial pollution particularly dozen of brick kilns in   villages Sakta chak, Maichak upto Dabwal in a radius of 3 km  have become hell for human beings, animals, birds, all kinds of crops, fruit trees. The agriculture land is being used by the industrialists- brick kiln mafia with the connivance of revenue authorities, forest mafia by violating the revenue laws which prohibit agriculture land for commercial purposes, as judgment passed by the Supreme court of India.
The former minister has appealed  to the  Governor NN Vohra and his advisors to intervene, visit the area and take action against the officials who had allowed the agriculture land to be used for commercial purpose.
