JAMMU, Aug 2: The Jammu Zonal Unit of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested a key accused involved in major drug trafficking cases in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per an NCB handout, the accused was wanted in connection with the seizure of 4,320 capsules of Tramadol (SpasmoProxyvon Plus) and 360 bottles of Codeine-based cough syrup in February 2022, along with another seizure of 590 bottles of Codeine-based cough syrup in May 2022.
It said the investigations revealed that he was the main receiver of both consignments and was also involved in four other narcotics-related cases registered by Jammu and Kashmir Police.
“He had been evading arrest for the last three years,” the statement said.
The NCB officials said the arrest highlights their continued efforts to crack down on drug traffickers in line with the vision of a Drug-Free India.
Meanwhile, citizens have been urged to support the fight against drugs by reporting any related information on the toll-free MANAS National Narcotics Helpline number 1933.
The NCB has promised to keep the identity of the informers confidential.
