SRINAGAR, Dec 12: Militants tonight kidnapped a National Conference (NC) Sarpanch from Sopore in North Kashmir district of Baramulla and security forces have launched massive searches to trace him out.
Sources said that 5-6 gunmen barged into the house of Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Bedar, 62, Sarpanch of NC from Tarazoo Sopore at around 9 p.m. and kidnapped him.
Police and 52 Rashtriya Rifles of Army launched massive searches in the area to trace out the Sarpanch.
Senior police and Army officials reached the spot to assess the situation. Lashkar-e-Toiba and Hizbul Mujahideen militants are operating in the area and security agencies believe they may responsible for the abduction.
