NC remembers Ghulam Nabi Wani Sogami on 44th death anniversary

SRINAGAR, July 23: The National Conference (NC) today observed the 44th death anniversary of former Minister Ghulam Nabi Wani Sogami with a commemorative event at his ancestral village in Sogam, Kupwara.
Senior NC leader and Advisor to the CM, Nasir Aslam Wani, led party workers, legislators, and other functionaries in offering Fatiha and floral tributes at the late leader’s grave.
Members from the party’s main body, youth wing (YNC), and other affiliated groups recalled Sogami’s contributions to the political and developmental landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speakers at the event described Ghulam Nabi Wani Sogami as a visionary who championed water conservation and agricultural reforms, particularly in the Lolab Valley.
They said his initiatives helped uplift rural communities and empowered farmers by improving irrigation and reducing poverty.
The event was attended by MLAs Qaisar Jamshed Lone and Javed Mirchal, Provincial President Kashmir Showkat Mir, Provincial Secretary Syed Towqeer Ahmed, and Provincial Spokesperson Tahir Sayeed.
Others present included DDC members Nasir Lone and Sanaullah Khan, Advocate Amina Majeed, Mustafa Rahi, Zonal Youth President Zahid Mughal, District Youth President Advocate Zahoor, Vice President Zahoor Ahmed Shah and Advocate Abdul Rashid Malik.
