SRINAGAR, Sept 8: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah, along with vice president and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, led party legislators, senior functionaries today paid floral tributes and offer fatiha at the Mazar-e-Anwar of Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah at Qaid Mazar, Naseem Bagh, Srinagar (Hazratbal).
Earlier, a majlis of Qur’an Khawani was organized at the reading room inside the graveyard complex, where people from different walks of life gathered to recite the Holy Qur’an.
The solemn event witnessed participation from Cabinet Ministers, Legislators and senior office bearers from the party’s South, Central and North Zones, in addition to provincial and state functionaries.
Representatives of the Youth National Conference (YNC), Women’s Wing, Media and Social Media Cells, Minority Wing and Legal Cell were also present in large numbers.
Locals too joined the fatiha khawani, reflecting the enduring respect for Sheikh Sahib.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Farooq Abdullah expressed gratitude to all those who braved inclement weather to attend.
He stressed that the truest tribute to Sheikh Sahib would be to uphold his ideals, remain committed to his vision and serve the people with honesty and dedication.
